Everything You Need to Know About the Hermes Belt Kit
You have undoubtedly spotted many celebrities with their Hermes Belt Kits and H buckles, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Gigi Hadid, and many others. Since we sell them quite frequently on PORTERO, to both men and women, we've decided to put together a simple guide. Please let us know in the comments if there's anything we didn't cover here!
The Hermes Belt Kit consists of a leather strap and buckle that can be changed as needed. Some of the leather straps have the added bonus of being reversible, which will cost more, but you can get twice as much use. Although you can purchase straps separately, you cannot purchase individual buckles at the Hermes boutique. We know of a lot of couples who purchase their own belt straps, according to their measurements, and who change buckles with each other depending on their outfits.
Some of the most common types of leather for Hermes Belt Kits are Epsom, Togo, Swift, and Box. It's important to note that Box leather is a more delicate material, and therefore will scratch easily. However, it does has a bit of a sheen to it, and its perfectly suited for a dressier occasion.
The most popular style of Hermes Belt Kit is the H buckle, but there are a few other types of buckles, including the Roulis, Collier de Chien, Chaîne D'Ancre, and more.
Hermes Belt Kit Sizes
The size of the Hermes belt kit will be marked in millimeters and centimeters, as it is customary for the French house of Hermes to do with all their products, for example, Birkin 35cm, Kelly 28cm, etc.
The available sizes of Hermes belt kits for women are: 13mm, 24mm, 32mm, and 42mm. For men, belt kits come in 32mm and 42mm. This number relates to the of the leather strap, and not the length. Below is a handy Metric-to-Imperial chart.
The length of the leather strap varies from 60cm to 120cm, in 5cm increments. This is measured from the second buckle hole (the one in the middle as each belt has three holes) to the hole on the other end that fits the detachable buckle. Measure the part of your body were you usually wear belts, whether it be hips or waist, for the best fit. Below is another chart showing belt size and inches.
Hermes Belt Kit FAQ
Is there a difference between men's and women's Hermes Belt Kits?
Hermes makes two types of Belt Kits: men's and unisex. The difference is in the leather strap. The unisex strap is tapered on one end, and square on the other, while the men's belt is tapered on both ends. However, since they are made in the same size, a woman could easily purchase a man's belt, if she so wishes.
The other difference is that although both men's and unisex belts are the same size, the men's version will have a longer strap, but the buckle holes will be in the same place.
Can I add extra holes?
You can absolutely add extra holes to your leather strap. However, we recommend that you take your Hermes belt to a professional leather worker.
How do I put on my Hermes Belt Kit buckle?
You put on your Hermes buckle by sliding it on the end with the one buckle hole, and clipping it.
The Hermes Belt Kit is a perfect investment and a great way to start your Hermes collection. Always remember to buy from a trusted seller like PORTERO to ensure you receive nothing but authentic Hermes accessories.
